"This
can't be happening?" you think. "People are just getting
on with their
lives!" But, as you slip the glasses back on for one last look, you see
the whole
world around you is slightly fractured - nothing quite fits and the sky seems
sad, and everything is groping after everything else as though there was a big
part missing, the structure to keep it going, the water to keep everything from
wilting.
In a dusty corner of the bible, there's a story about a man, Paul, who went to
Athens to talk about God to people getting on with their lives and not the least
bit interested.
He'd had a sort of sunglasses experience -
Jesus had blinded him on the way to Damascus, showing him how
things
really were. In the light of that, this is what he said to them.
